IMPACT THROUGH EXPERTISE

IMPACT THROUGH EXPERTISE

Conversations with the Council featuring Taryn Goldstein, Director, National Tax at CohnReznick

Navigating the complexities of tax law can be challenging, but that is where Taryn Goldstein comes in. "I help clients minimize state income, franchise, sales use, and property taxes, as well as ensure that they maintain reporting compliance." As a Director in the National Tax Practice at CohnReznick LLP, Taryn leverages her expertise for clients of all sizes. "I work with companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 public entities, but my passion is working with middle-market clients. As the successor firm to locally grown Daskal Bolton LLP, CohnReznick is the perfect fit for my love of working with business owners but still having the challenge of handling complex tax issues.  I am able to provide holistic business advice coupled with tax guidance for the entities and their owners throughout the life-cycle of their business, starting with initial registrations through growth opportunities and preparation for exit and or generational planning."

Her strategic insights allow companies to make informed decisions, making her a trusted advocate for those she represents. She applies that same commitment to her local and national tax teams. "I proactively foster collaboration and teamwork with a strong supporting infrastructure. My teams are all-inclusive without hierarchical boundaries. I believe that supporting the personal goals of each team member is as important to the growth of a business as setting revenue targets."

For Taryn, success is not just about work. It’s about impact. That led her to the Economic Council of Palm Beach County four years ago. “Having lived and worked in South Florida for almost 20 years, I was looking for a Board that was committed to the sustainable growth of our community. The Economic Council was the first organization I encountered that looked at growth holistically for business, families, and the environment.” The Council’s ability to bridge industries and provide a seat at the table for forward-thinking professionals resonated with her deeply.  “From my first meeting with Michele, I knew the Economic Council was different. Being a part of their work has been a great honor for me and the members’ patience, support, and mentoring have been invaluable to me professionally and personally. Their commitment to our community and its people runs deep through every single member of the Council. You don’t find that very often in the business world…or the world at large.”  The Economic Council has also helped her professionally. “The Economic Council's focus on supporting our community’s sustainable growth helps draw talented workforce and new and expanding businesses to the area, providing my industry with talented employees and more potential clients.” However, finding affordable housing for the workforce presents a challenge. “Entry-level salaries in my industry range roughly from $100,000 to 125,000, yet these people cannot afford a single-family home in an average neighborhood. The lack of efficient, affordable, and reliable mass transportation goes hand-in-hand with this issue.”

Taryn believes fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors is crucial to overcome the challenge. “We need to work together to continually consider the changing landscape of business, lifestyle, education, and environment. There is no finite answer for fostering growth and sustainability. Our micro and macro worlds are ever-changing, and we need to continually address those changes.”

Looking ahead, Taryn remains optimistic about the business climate over the next decade. “I would like to see a county that supports the growth of our middle-market companies while fostering education at all levels and doesn’t turn a blind eye to the socio-economic classes that help keep our county running.”

Ensuring everyone has access to opportunities is important to Taryn. She is deeply committed to fighting for fairness, drawing inspiration from Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a leader she most admires. “She spoke up even when her voice was shaky. She never backed down from her beliefs. She epitomized the strength, morality, and progress of our living Constitution.” Her father, a constant mentor, also made a significant impact doing so with his wisdom and wit. “He shared with me that with time, you will be good at whatever you choose to do, but if you choose to do something that you love, then you will be successful every day. Just make sure you pick something so that you can support yourself because I’m not paying any more bills.”
